Do you See the Light at the End of the Tunnel?

“Light at the end of the tunnel” is metaphoric expression that dates from the 1800s, but became widespread only in the mid 1900s (The American Heritage Dictionary of idioms by Christine Ammer). Light we know is a good thing because God said that it was so in Genesis 1:4. Tunnels are usually dark and long and by definition they are underground passageways, dug through the surrounding soil/earth/rock and enclosed except for the entrance and the exit, commonly at each end. Spiritually speaking, when you find yourself in a long dark tunnel of hardship or adversity you could get lost in despair. In this state you may not see the end of your tunnel experience. You may not remember that there is Light.

A Dark Tunnel

Being in a dark tunnel can make you feel hopeless, however, it is a season that you must pass through. You will need determination and vision to walk through the tunnel. You must remind yourself that the Light is indeed coming. The Light is something that gives you hope. If you hope for what you cannot see, then wait patiently for it; because surely there is an end. Your expectation shall not be cut off (Romans 8:25 and Proverbs 23:18). Walk through the tunnel by faith and thank God for the Light. The prospect of success, happiness, joy, peace and relief is upon you when you anticipate seeing the Light. When you get that first glimmer of light, know that it is a sign of improvement in a situation that has been going on for a long time. The Light at the end of the tunnel is a  long-awaited indication that a period of darkness is nearing an end.

You will need determination and vision to walk through the tunnel

But forget all that-it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do a brand-new thing. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness for my people to come home. I will create rivers for them in the desert!    -Isaiah 43:18-19

God is asking “Do you not see it?” In another words, “Do you not know it?”/ “Do you not believe it?” God has already begun to shine the light in your direction you may not see it yet with your physical eyes, however, with your spiritual eyes began to envision the light. So wonderful shall your next season be in comparison to the tunnel experience. Look for the Light.

When you see the Light know that God is about to do a brand-new thing. You are about to embark on a season filled with an eternal, supernatural glow that is likened to basking in the Light of a new day. As you begin to shine you will also be able to bear witness to the True Light which is Jesus Christ.
